What better way to enjoy the delightful summer than a weekend of camping and nerd-talk in Southern Sweden? Previous years SSWC, the Sweden Social Web Camp has fulfilled this need, with plenty – having attracted over 450 participants earlier years. However, this year the organizers announced they would not be able to host the highly appreciated SSWC. A small group of SSWC fans got together to save the say, and got the blessing to organize G33KC4MP instead! Not at the same spot, but with the similar theme: geeks and nerdy people, meeting up in nature for what is a large unconference. The agenda is entirely up to you and what you want to discuss and learn more about, so you won’t be bound by a strict schedule or boring conversations.
When: Friday the 15th to Sunday the 17th of August
Location: Tåssjö lägerskola which resides in Ängelholm muncipality, just adjacent to two great lakes, Västersjön and Rössjön. The area is known its spectacular nature – hailed by some as the most beautiful in all of Skåne. Check out the location on the map here.
Accommodation: The choice is yours whether you prefer to tent or sleep in 36 available beds. The tents will be divided into the ‘party’ tents, for all you party animals wanting to stay up late and rave, and the more ‘calm’ tents, for those of you who would prefer to wake up in the morning refreshed after a restful night’s sleep.
Food: The lakes are your kitchen; get a rod or a spear and start hunting. For dessert; the bushes are ripe with delicious berries, as long as you don’t eat the poisonous ones. Just kidding: mealtimes will be catered for by the organizers, including two breakfasts, three lunches/brunches and two dinners. You must provide your own drinks, either brought from home or bought on site.
Tickets: You’d better get your hands on them soon! If you haven’t already received an email confirming your bed-space, book your tent ticket here. It is possible that you may be upgraded to a bed-space at a later time, so keep an eye on your mail.
Finances: Cost for tenting is from 950 to 1 950 kronor, while those in rooms pay 2 450 kronor (prices include tax). Of course, participants and their companies are much encouraged to supply additional sponsor money, to support and thank the organizers behind this fantastic event, through various ‘sponsor packages’.
