Risto Siilasmaa Invests In WiFi Capacity Marketplace

Risto Siilasmaa, founder of F-Secure and Chairman of Nokia, has made “a significant investment” in BandwidthX, while also joining the firm’s advisory board, the U.S. based startup said.

BandwidthX’s B2B online marketplace BxMarket enables mobile operators to buy unused Wi-Fi capacity from Internet service providers and cable companies, helping them to match fluctuations in demand without heavy investments into equipment.

“The innovation and impact that BandwidthX brings to the mobile and Wi-Fi space are very exciting. BxMarket bridges the gap between the two industries in a unique and agile way that benefits all players,” Siilasmaa said in a statement.

Siilasmaa has invested in numerous startups, including food delivery platform Wolt and failed e-commerce marketplace Fruugo.
