Planet OS Opens Access To Weather Data

    Estonian-born big data startup Planet OS launched on Tuesday its API product, aiming to simplify access to the world’s weather and climate data for the $376 billion geospatial services market.

    “The consistent API is designed for all geospatial and Earth Observation data. It’s an infrastructure for software developers using weather data to power their apps, researchers and climate specialists enabling them to discover, access and build solutions on Earth data in an easy to use and scalable way,” the company said in a statement.

    Planet OS, which launched as Marinexplore back in 2012, has since refocused to cover data from everywhere on the globe. Its investors include Intertrust Technologies and Philips Electronics.
