Northern Europe: Keep The Tech Chill Baltics Conference On Your Radar

TechHub Riga is throwing another winter conference after the success of the TechCrunch Baltics conference last year. The conference, now dubbed Tech Chill Baltics, is hosting a great lineup of speakers, interesting startup pitches, and locally brewed beer on February 12th. I think that’s all you need to tell our Nordic and Baltic readers to get them in the door, but read on if you need more convincing. Also note that the last day to pick up early bird tickets is tomorrow, so grab yours here.

The event is open to anyone interested in the Baltic startup scene, and they plan to have good crowd of European VCs present. Their investor panel includes participants from Creandum, Conor Ventures, Sunstone Capital, Seedcamp, and Index Ventures, among others.

Speakers include Andreas Ehn, CTO at Wrapp (and formally at Spotify); Ben Holmes, the Index Ventures partner who seems to focus on this region; and Roy Vella, a mobile payments expert from PayPal. You can find a whole list of confirmed speakers here, but added to the lineup today is Rhett Weiss, the Executive Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Institute at Cornell.

It sounds like everything will be bigger and better than last time. A year ago they had close to 250 people squeezed into a small hotel conference room, but this year they expect anywhere between 300-400 people attending at a better venue.

The event will end up with the TechHub One Year party, which should be a good way to relax and chill out after meeting some interesting people.

Early in the afternoon we also have a presentation from one of top brewers in Latvia – it’s really a startup itself – so they’ve launched this beer recently and it’s doing extremely well. We’re going to continue the theme [in the evening]. Tech, startups, and beer,” says Andris Berzins, of TechHub Riga and Creandum.

What more could you want? And again, the last day to pick up early bird tickets is tomorrow, so it makes sense to grab yours. We should be at the event, so I hope to meet a lot of Baltic and Nordic entrepreneurs and startups!
