Nordic and Baltic Funding Rounds in January

During the first month of 2016, there has been in total 19 closed investment rounds in the region.

Nordic investment scene lacked major deals in January, with two investments in Finland — Next Games and MariaDB — the only noticeable deals in the region, data from Funderbeam showed on Wednesday.

There were a total of 19 investment rounds unveiled in the region, but most were early rounds, with limited capital pouring into the startups.

Next Games raised $10 million from its existing investors to boost launch of its third game, and open source database firm MariaDB raised $9 million C round as part of its major revamp, which included also swapping its CEO and CTO.

These two deals were followed by Wrapp in Sweden raising $4.7 million and Peakon in Denmark rasing $4.3 million.
