Lingvist Announces Closing $8M A Round

    One of the world’s leading Internet services companies leads the funding round of Estonian language learning startup.

    Lingvist, the next generation language learning platform today announced a Series A investment of $8 million led by global Internet services company Rakuten alongside Smartcap, Inventure, Jaan Tallinn and Geoff Prentice.

    The financing will be used to fund Lingvist’s growth in Europe, Asia and the Middle East and for further investment in its proprietary adaptive language learning algorithm and platform. The company is planning to expand in Japan and other Asian markets as well as the MENA region in the coming 18 months.

    Also more developers, designers, computational linguists and data scientists will be hired to Lingvist offices in Tallinn and London.
