Jongla Closes Investment Round With €1.4m

From the times when MSN Messenger was the number one IM software, to the modern era where IM giants such as Tinychat roam the internet, it is clear that IM, or instant messaging, has manifested a global competition between tech companies who are fighting for the crown of the fastest and most instantaneous message ever.

Lately, this battle has taken a turn towards the mobile application markets. Good examples of this are WhatsApp and BeeJive IM, but lately, a new app has drilled its way up through the bedrock of instant messaging . Jongla is the newcomer in this volatile market, and they are aiming for a serious blast  with their cross-platform messaging app.

The Finnish-based company was founded by Arto Boman in 2009 and so far their path has been a very promising one. Just today they announced the closing of a €1.4m investment round from Ingman Finance Ab and a prominent group of private angel investors. With this investment, Jongla plans to further develop its products and roll out a growth strategy, with non-minimalistic intentions of international expansion to Europe and Asia. These two have faced a staggering growth in popularity of instant messaging apps, especially among young people, the target audience of Jongla.

Jonglas secret of success lies in simplicity and entertainment, both of which are key elements of the product. Other than its beautiful design, what makes Jongla different from other IM crown-hunting competitors is the personalization feature of the app and the ability to add interactive stickers and animations to messages. The app also happens to be free, which increases its piquancy.

“Jongla offers a new way of communicating with loved ones. We make staying in touch fun for our users with our great variety of rich communication features,” said Riku Salminen, CEO of Jongla. “The latest round of funding will allow us to continue to build and improve our service. The aim for the company now is focus on the regions where the app has experience good traction and look to grow that further. Exciting times lay ahead for the company.”

The latest investment round takes the overall investement in the Finnish messaging startup to €3.9m. Investors in the latest round include Mikko Rinta-Jouppi (Entrepreneur & Investor), Matti Kallio (Commercial Counselor), Bengt Westerholm (Entrepreneur & Investor) plus a whole host of private investors.

Jongla is available for free at the Apple store, Google play and Windows phone store.
