New year, new Jolla? The company has published a post for its backers and followers recapping what happened in 2015, and what community can expect in 2016. Unfortunately, the news are not so great.
As you may recall, Jolla faced a financial hit back in November 2015. Situation has been resolved and Jolla slowly but surely has been resuming work ever since. Even then, the financial struggle had much worse impact than initially anticipated.
If you have backed a Jolla Tablet on Kickstarter, watch out. Not everyone will be getting it.
“The bad news here is that we are not able to complete the production to fulfill all contributions. In other words, all of our backers will not get a Jolla Tablet. However, you can be sure you will not end up empty handed. We might even have some positive surprises in stock for you. But more on that will follow, feel free to speculate,” says Juhani Lassila on a blog post.
Few lucky backers will be getting Jolla Tablet sometime during January or February, but that’s about it.
Before you start charging on the Kickstarter note this: the creator is solely responsible for fulfilling the promises made in their project. If they’re unable to satisfy the terms of this agreement, they may be subject to legal action by backers. Kickstarter is not a responsible entity here and it’s up to Jolla to set things right.
So far, Jolla has been transparent about their situation, which is a huge plus, but continuously fail to deliver the product. Only time will tell how Jolla will settle things.
