Helsinki looking 10 years beyond

Helsinki Business Hub celebrated on Tuesday its tenth anniversary, inviting a number of influencers from the public and private sector not to look back at doing business in Helsinki, but rather 10 years ahead.

The HBH 2026 conference featured speakers like Helsinki Mayor Jussi Pajunen and Richard Webb, CEO and Founder of Startmesh. The Helsinki 2026 Student Competition prize of 5,000 euros was awarded to Sudip Kumar Pal of Carbonis.

Going ahead Helsinki has a lot of opportunities in digitalization and cleantech, but the city will struggle to find talent to support growth in the region, said Melina Mäntylä of Aula research.

The birthday crowd of 288 guests was organised into 5 workshops covering Globalisation, Climate Change, Future Talent, Digitalisation, and Urbanisation. These highlighted the following issues as the ,ost potential new business drivers in Helsinki in the next 10 years:
– turning Helsinki into a global high-tech hub
– smart energy solutions
– increasing the capabilities of talent attraction
– building on personnel transportation and shared services
– building affordable housing solutions & concepts
