Funderful Wins TransferWise Pitch Competition at Latitude59

Latvian fundraising platform Funderful wins TransferWise Pitch Competition at Latitude59, the largest startup event in Estonia. The prize includes €10,000 equity free cash and services from Hedman Partners, SendGrid and Servers.com.

Funderful originates from Stockholm Business School in Riga. The company builds a fundraising software for universities ($40B industry) that turns nostalgia into donations without the annoyance of cold calls or guilt trips.

We loved how Funderful had set out to solve a very real problem and had a clear idea of their market and the competitive space. They showed how their solution helps universities not only to cut down on fundraising costs but grow the overall volume of fundraising. It was also impressive how Funderful had already managed to get universities like the London Business School or the University of Oxford to subscribe to its services”, said Lars Trunin, TransferWise’s representative in the pitch competition jury.

Pitch Competition’s Special Fukuoka Prize was given to a startup with the potential of growing their business in Japanese and other Asian markets. The winner again came from Latvia – Coffee Pixels that produces solid speciality coffee. The winners of Pitch Competition in Early Stage category became PSII – Personal Sensitive Identifiable Information. The PSII team also won Garage48 hackathon eGovernance Open Data that took place just before Latitude59.
