Following successful Kickstarter campaign, Airdog picks up a $2 million Seed Round

Funding news coming from one of the region’s most action-packed startups: Latvia’s Airdog announces it has raised a $2 million seed round led by Seraph Group and joined by a number of investors like IT-Farm Corporation, Base Ventures, FlyCap, Imprimatur Capital and by a group of angel investors like Konstantin Othmer, Harry Cheung, Vinny Lingham, Chris Hulls and Arthur Watson.

For those of you who missed Latvia’s record breaking crowdfunding campaign, Airdog picked up $1,368,177 last July for their auto-follow drone designed for extreme sports. Your average GoPro setup works great strapped on to your board or helmet, but it’s tough to get a full shot of yourself when you’re out in the wild, like skiing down a trail or out on the water. With the advancement of drone technology, Airdog’s solution allows a drone to follow you, connected to you through a wireless device (they call an Airleash) so you’re always in the frame. The device give you some drone positioning options, but a paired app gives even more features so your Airdog can be sure to miss tall structures or get a more cinematic shot.

Preorders for their third batch start at $1,295 (not including a GoPro) and are estimated to be shipped around Q3 of this year.

“Another big milestone for the team,” says Edgars Rozentals, CEO of AirDog. “To think this time last year we hadn’t even launched our Kickstarter yet, and we’ve come so far in such a short space of time. I’m incredibly exited about the group joining the round and the value they are bringing.”

Putting together their Kickstarter and funding round, the team has raised $3.3 Million in total funding.
