Financial Search Engine AlphaSense Raises $33 million

Financial software firm AlphaSense said on Monday it has raised $33 million from a group of investors in one of the largest financing rounds for Finnish firms in years.

The group includes Tribeca Venture Partners, Triangle Peak Partners, Quantum Strategic Partners (managed by Soros Fund Management) and individual investors.

AlphaSense leverage its Smart Synonyms technology, which leapfrogs traditional keyword search, automatically including synonyms for popular terms and concepts important to investors. This helps users find more information faster. The platform allows analysts to annotate any content stored on AlphaSense, including their own securely uploaded content, and to create a downloadable digest of their findings to access later or share with their team.

“The company is uniquely positioned to completely revolutionize how knowledge professionals work, proven by its success to date with financial services firms and major corporations,” Brian Hirsch, co-founder and managing partner of Tribeca Venture Partners, said in a statement.
