Europas Results: Instabridge & Transferwise Win, Infogr.am Impresses

From the comments that can be found around the web and from the people that attended the awards, it seems that Europas is the fastest awards event out there. After all, it finished 20 minutes ahead of schedule, which is not something you see too often at a startup event.

But this is not why you are reading this, you want to find out just how well did Arcticstartup Region startups perform. Going in, there were quite a lot of startups, vc’s, entrepreneurs and accelerators that were nominated from the region. Thankfully, going out the results are quite good as well.

In total, there were 18 companies from the Arcticstartup Region that were nominated (Without the Nordic/Accelerator/Entrepreneur nominations) and five of them received a prize or were highly commended. For all nominations, please take a look at our Europas shortlist.

Infogr.am was nominated more than any other startup in the whole event with a total of 5 nominations. Unfortunately they were not able to win in any category, but the nominations themselves prove that they are doing something right and we see a bright future ahead of them.

The big win for the region was the fact that Transferwise, the peer-to-peer currency/money exchange won the “Best Middleweight Startup” award. This is good news for the region as the competition was very tough.

In reply to the award,Taavet Hinrikus, co-founder of TransferWise, said:

“This is such an honor. Particularly when the competition was so great. Just goes to show that people are really fed up of banks taking more than their fair share.”
