Don't Remove ArcticStartup From Your Bookmarks Just Yet

    Dear ArcticStartup community,

After a week away from the writing desk, Greg and Dmitri are back in the office, throwing coals on the fire to get this train rolling again. The response worldwide from our last article has been beyond anything we ever expected, and we would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who got in touch with us.

We’re going to begin publishing again today, so keep sending us your press releases and news to our editor address. In the future we’re looking for constant community-sourced news by publishing one awesome guest post a day. If you have a topic you want to write about, feel free to pitch it to us! You’ve gotten a feel for ArcticStartup over the years, so you know what we’re looking for. Articles can really be anything, like your friend’s startup that we haven’t covered yet, or an issue you think is important to Nordic and Baltic entrepreneurs.

If you don’t have any topic suggestions, you can still get in touch with us and we’ll try to find some news or a topic for you to write about. We will give an “about the author” line, so it might be a nice opportunity to get your name out there.

But in all, we only ask that your articles be related to the Nordics and Baltics, and that they are not dripping in PR hyperbole or SEO awfulness. To get in touch about writing for ArcticStartup, hit us up at editor (åt) arcticstartup.com.

As we figure out the details of the ArcticStartup nonprofit, we would like to thank everyone who has donated to us to keep us financially going. Even though we’re looking for much more community-driven content, someone needs to be driving the boat, and Dmitri and I are very interested in how we can help out the Nordic and Baltic growth-entrepreneurship community in ArcticStartup’s new form.

As a nonprofit we don’t want to be eternally dependent on outside donations, and are looking into providing services that can help out the community. One idea we’re pitching is a Startup/Investor matchmaking service at the Garage48 in Helsinki on the 19-21st of November, so if you would like to donate some of your time to help build that, it could be very interesting.

But in the short term, we’ve put together some kickstarter-ish donation packages on Tictail that you could purchase, helping us keep the lights on as we transition the company. If you have any other ideas how to help us out, feel free to get in touch!

When it became clear that ArcticStartup needed to be shut down as a for-profit company, all of us here at ArcticStartup were clearly disappointed. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, its that we have an awesome community, and that ArcticStartup’s founding idea of optimistically promoting entrepreneurship in Northern Europe will never die.

Again, thanks for being a reader!
