Danish, Estonian Food Startups Start At Lisbon Accelerator

Lisbon Challenge accelerator has picked Estonia-based MyWineTour and Danish B2B food trading platform Fresh.Land for its 10 week programme.

2016 is sure to be a year full of new challenges and opportunities for Lisbon, since Web Summit is coming to Lisbon, and startup teams from the globe are already gathering in the city for the Lisbon Challenge Spring 16.

Rated as the 4th most dynamic European accelerator according to the annual report of Fundacity in 2014, 40 percent of the Lisbon Challenge alumni has received investments, raising in total over 50 million euros with three of the alumni participating at Y Combinator and seven members at Seedcamp.

Both region’s startups participating in the program this spring are related to foodtech. The Danish B2B platform Fresh.Land brings farmers and retailers together directly and benefits both parties by removing 3-5 middlemen in the process. Even better than that, the platform also claims to cut the time lost in transportation for the freshly harvested produce, from months to days.

Instead of targeting at business users, the Estonian app MyWineTour is more a choice for individuals, specifically wine lovers. If you need a personal wine expert, a tour organizer and a navigator for a wine tour, the mobile app could be right in your pocket to recommend you well-suiting wineries and personalized wine tasting tours. Handy, isn’t it?
