Koukoi Crashing To China

Oulu-based gaming startup Koukoi Games said on Friday it has partnered with MyGamez, a major publisher of foreign games in China, to launch Koukoi’s first title Crashing Season in the world’s largest economy late July.

Teaming up with a local publisher is necessary for tightly-regulated Chinese market, where all games have to be pre-approved.

“Koukoi Games decided to partner up with a well-known publisher due to the nature of the Chinese market which is hard to access as an outsider but has a tremendous market size to be conquered,” the company said in a statement.

Koukoi Games was founded early in 2015 and the team includes game business veterans from industry giants such as Rovio and Nokia. The company raised $1 million in 2015.
